Campania

Campania extends from the mouth of the Garigliano River to the Gulf of Policastro along the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is a region bathed by the sea, dominated by the mysterious Vesuvius, a landmark for Neapolitans and the first thing they see when returning from a journey, knowing they're home. Campania is also famous for its typical, cheerful and sunny cuisine. Thanks to the sun that kisses this land, we can find the world's tastiest tomatoes, which are an integral part of many local dishes, including, of course, pizza. It was in Naples that a pizza chef invented, in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy, the tricolor pizza topped with tomato, mozzarella, and basil, which is still called "pizza Margherita" today. Naples is also the home of spaghetti, topped with a variety of flavorful ingredients. Another of the region's signature dishes is the DOP buffalo mozzarella from Campania, expertly produced in the areas of Battipaglia, Eboli, Mondragone, and Capua. Among the countless delicious desserts are Neapolitan pastiera, sfogliatelle, babà, and lemon delizia, all washed down with Sorrento limoncello. Campania's excellent wines also include Falanghina, Solopaca, Greco di Tufo, Taurasi, Aglianico, Asprino d'Aversa, Lacrima Christi, Fiano, and Coda di Volpe.
